Lantern Years
Terms
Last updated: July 9, 2026
These Terms explain the rules for using Lantern Years. Please read them carefully before creating an account, purchasing a plan, sharing home photos, inviting family members, or using any Lantern Years website, dashboard, plan, message, file, or related service.
By using Lantern Years, you agree to these Terms and confirm that you have authority to share the information you provide. If you do not agree, do not use Lantern Years.
1. What Lantern Years provides
Lantern Years provides private-pay, occupational therapist reviewed stay-at-home feasibility and care plans for families, caregivers, and adults planning for safer daily routines at home. Plans may include room-by-room priorities, daily routine guidance, caregiver notes, equipment considerations, contractor-ready questions, family tasks, and next steps based on the information and photos you provide.
Lantern Years is designed to support home planning and caregiver confidence. It does not replace emergency care, urgent medical care, a physician relationship, an in-person occupational therapy evaluation when one is needed, physical therapy, nursing care, mental health care, legal advice, financial advice, structural engineering, licensed contracting, or any other local professional service that may be appropriate for the home.
2. Occupational therapist review and remote limits
Lantern Years plans include review by a licensed occupational therapist. Remote review is used only when the available home details, photos, and family context can reasonably support that level of review. A licensed occupational therapist may determine that remote review is not enough and may recommend local in-person occupational therapy, physical therapy, medical care, contractor review, equipment fitting, caregiver training, or emergency support.
A plan is based on what is visible and described at the time of review. Lantern Years does not physically inspect the home, test floors, walls, stairs, wiring, plumbing, grab bars, railings, mobility devices, medical equipment, or contractor work. Home conditions can change quickly, and a plan cannot guarantee that a home is safe, fall-proof, accessible, code-compliant, or free of risk.
3. Not for emergencies
Lantern Years is not an emergency service and is not monitored for urgent response. Do not use Lantern Years for falls, suspected injuries, chest pain, shortness of breath, stroke symptoms, confusion, severe weakness, abuse, neglect, immediate home danger, or any other urgent medical or safety concern.
If someone may be injured, unsafe, or in immediate danger, call 911, local emergency services, a physician, a nurse line, a local crisis line, adult protective services, or another appropriate local professional. Priority Review means faster home planning; it is not crisis response.
4. Who may use Lantern Years
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into these Terms. If you use Lantern Years for another person, you confirm that you are the resident, a caregiver, a family member, a legal guardian, a health care power of attorney, or another person with permission to share relevant home photos, routines, and health context.
Lantern Years may ask for additional confirmation before preparing or releasing a plan. We may decline, pause, or cancel service if authority is unclear, if the home is outside our current service area, if the situation is not appropriate for remote review, or if use of the service may create risk for the resident, caregivers, our team, or others.
5. Your information and responsibilities
You agree to provide information that is accurate, current, and complete.
- Share only photos, room details, health context, contact information, and family notes that you are authorized to share.
- Do not upload content that invades another person's privacy or includes unnecessary sensitive information.
- Tell us if important circumstances change, including a fall, hospital visit, new diagnosis, new equipment, new caregiver limits, a move, construction, or a major change in daily function.
- Review the plan carefully and use judgment before making home changes, purchasing equipment, changing routines, or relying on caregiver instructions.
Missing, unclear, outdated, staged, or inaccurate information may limit the usefulness of the plan and may increase risk.
6. Self-pay service
Lantern Years is a self-pay service. Families can start without a doctor's referral. We do not submit claims to Medicare, Medicaid, private health plans, long-term care plans, workers' compensation carriers, or other payers. We do not currently provide CPT codes, ICD codes, prior authorization requests, claim forms, or superbills for insurance reimbursement.
If you have a physician order, a Medicare-covered therapy need, a medically necessary treatment plan, or questions about covered benefits, use an appropriate local health care provider or payer process. Lantern Years may recommend that local in-person care come first.
7. Payments, renewals, cancellations, and refunds
Prices are shown before payment. Payment information is handled by our payment processor. Lantern Years does not intentionally store full payment card numbers in the Lantern Years dashboard.
One-time plans are charged when you purchase them. Ongoing Support, if selected, renews at the stated interval until canceled. You can ask for billing help or cancellation by contacting us at contact@lanternyears.com. Cancellation stops future renewal charges but does not automatically refund prior charges.
Unless a written offer states otherwise, fees are nonrefundable once review has begun, a plan has been prepared, or dashboard support has been used. If Lantern Years determines that remote review is not appropriate before plan work begins, we may cancel the order and issue a refund or help identify another next step.
For Safety Setups, Lantern Years confirms fit and availability before sending equipment. Most in-stock setup bundles leave within 3-5 business days after required fit details are complete. We will contact you before fulfillment if an item is delayed, a different model is needed, or the setup should not proceed as ordered.
Unopened standard equipment may be returned within 30 days of delivery after contacting Lantern Years for return instructions. Opened hygiene items and equipment that has been used or installed cannot be returned unless it arrived damaged or defective. Report damaged, defective, or incorrect items within seven days of delivery. Home review and training fees remain refundable until that work begins; after work begins, the service portion is nonrefundable unless Lantern Years states otherwise in writing.
8. Family access and shared plans
You are responsible for deciding who may access a plan, task board, message, photo, or family note. Invite only people you trust and who have a real role in the resident's home plan. A person you invite may see sensitive home, health, routine, and caregiver information.
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping sign-in details secure. Tell us promptly if you believe an account, invitation, plan, or photo has been accessed without permission.
9. Equipment, contractors, and local professionals
A Lantern Years plan may mention equipment, home changes, vendor categories, questions for contractors, or local professional support. Those references are planning guidance, not a guarantee that an item or change is safe, available, covered, properly installed, or appropriate for every person.
Families remain responsible for choosing, purchasing, installing, maintaining, and supervising equipment and home changes. Use qualified local professionals when installation, building codes, permits, electrical work, plumbing, structural changes, stair changes, ramps, lifts, grab bars, or other specialized work may be involved.
10. Communications
You agree that Lantern Years may contact you by email, dashboard message, phone, or other contact information you provide for account setup, payment, plan preparation, family invitations, support, security, service updates, and other messages related to your use of Lantern Years.
Email and text messages may not be fully secure. Avoid sending sensitive details by ordinary email unless necessary. Use the dashboard when it is available for home details and photos.
11. Privacy and health information
Our Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice explain how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect information. By using Lantern Years, you acknowledge those policies.
Lantern Years is designed around safeguards that are aligned with health privacy expectations, including access controls, limited team access, private file handling, and security practices for sensitive home and health-related details. Our current self-pay service does not submit electronic insurance claims or other electronic payer transactions. If our operations change in a way that makes HIPAA apply to us as a covered entity or business associate, we intend to update our practices and notices accordingly.
12. Prohibited uses
You may not use Lantern Years to:
- Seek emergency response or delay urgent care.
- Upload information you do not have permission to share.
- Misrepresent identity, authority, medical history, home conditions, or payment information.
- Harass, threaten, exploit, or harm another person.
- Interfere with the security or operation of Lantern Years.
- Copy, scrape, resell, or misuse Lantern Years content or plans.
- Use Lantern Years in a way that violates law or professional obligations.
13. Content ownership and limited license
You keep your rights in the photos, notes, and information you provide. You give Lantern Years permission to use that content to provide, support, secure, improve, document, and administer the services you request, including licensed review, plan preparation, account support, family sharing you enable, quality checks, legal compliance, and safety review.
Lantern Years owns or licenses the website, dashboard, plan format, text, graphics, templates, recommendations library, designs, code, trademarks, and other service materials. You may use your plan for personal family and care coordination purposes. You may not copy, publish, sell, train competing services with, or commercially reuse Lantern Years materials without written permission.
14. No guarantees and disclaimer of warranties
Lantern Years provides practical home planning based on the information available at the time of review. We do not guarantee any health outcome, safety outcome, fall prevention outcome, caregiver outcome, construction outcome, equipment result, reimbursement result, or family decision.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Lantern Years is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, or uninterrupted access.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Lantern Years and its owners, employees, contractors, reviewers, vendors, and representatives will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive, or lost-profit damages, or for damages arising from delayed care, emergency situations, inaccurate information, unclear photos, third-party services, equipment choices, installation, construction, family decisions, account misuse, or events outside our reasonable control.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the total liability of Lantern Years and its owners, employees, contractors, reviewers, vendors, and representatives for any claim related to Lantern Years will not exceed the amount you paid to Lantern Years for the service giving rise to the claim during the six months before the claim arose, or $100 if you did not pay Lantern Years for that service.
16. Indemnification
To the fullest extent allowed by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Lantern Years and its owners, employees, contractors, reviewers, vendors, and representatives from claims, damages, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your use of Lantern Years, your violation of these Terms, information you provide, content you upload, people you invite, decisions you make based on a plan, or your violation of another person's rights.
17. Dispute resolution
Please contact us first at contact@lanternyears.com so we can try to resolve concerns directly. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, you and Lantern Years agree, to the fullest extent allowed by law, that disputes will be handled only on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, representative, or private attorney general action.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, you and Lantern Years waive any right to a jury trial. Any arbitration or court process must be brought individually. Some claims may not be subject to arbitration or jury waiver under applicable law, and nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be waived.
You may opt out of the arbitration portion of this section within 30 days after first accepting these Terms by emailing contact@lanternyears.com with your name, account email, mailing address, and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration. The class action waiver and all other parts of these Terms remain in effect to the fullest extent allowed by law.
18. Governing law, termination, and changes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Wisconsin, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless another law applies and cannot be waived. Lantern Years may suspend or end access if we believe use of the service violates these Terms, creates risk, or is not appropriate for remote home planning.
We may update these Terms as the service, law, and our practices change. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice or request renewed agreement when required.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to contact@lanternyears.com.
